New study
Is everyone wearing the headband properly? Drop in the recordings from your participants, one file per night, named like P012_night1.edf. You get one row per night: who’s fine, who needs a follow-up, what went wrong, and what to tell them.
| Participant | Status | Clean signal | What happened | What to do |
|---|
“Worn properly” means the headband gave a clean signal for at least 75% of the night. 50–74% is “Check this one”. Below 50% is “Not worn properly”. These are the same cut-offs a 2026 home-sleep study used.
What do these words mean?
- Clean signal
- The share of the night when the headband was recording a usable brain signal.
- Lost contact / flat line
- The sensor stopped touching the skin, so the signal went dead flat.
- Electrical hum
- Interference from mains power or a bad connection. It looks like a thick, fuzzy band instead of a line.
- Spikes and swings
- Sudden jumps, usually from movement or a loose headband.
- EDF file
- The standard file format sleep and EEG devices export. Most headbands and sleep apps can export it.
